In ecology, sustainability is the property of biological systems to remain diverse and productive indefinitely. Generally speaking, sustainability is the endurance of systems and processes. The organizing principle for sustainability is sustainable development, which includes four interconnected domains: ecology, economics, politics and culture. Form International aims to play an integral part in these domains wherever it can.
Sustainability can also be defined as a socio-ecological process characterized by the pursuit of a common ideal. Form International plays a part in enabling cooperation between different parties, so that each may benefit from a sustainable environment.
Certification support and assessment (FSC, PEFC)
We offer certification support, training and advice for both forest management and Chain of Custody certification for FSC and PEFC. We support companies to achieve legality certification, e.g. OLB, SmartWood VLC, and offer assistance in the development of standards and Conformity Assessments of (PEFC) standards.
Due diligence and legal timber
We assist companies with their Due Dilligence system to ensure compliance with the European Timber Regulation (EUTR). If the company requires legality certification (e.g. OLB, SW VLC), Form international can assist in the process. This can be incorporated as part of the company’s due diligence system.
Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA)
Form international has a team of experts that is experienced in conducting full Environmental and Social Impact Assessments, compliant with international requirements (IFC, FSC, Development Banks). We cooperate with local specialists to ensure an optimal fit with the local context. Form international also offers Quick Scans that can be part of a feasibility study or preliminary assessment. All Impact Assessments and Quick Scans are tailored to the needs of the client.
High Conservation Value Forest (HCVF) analysis
Form international conducts High Conservation Value Forest analyses for projects and businesses in the forestry and agricultural sector. The HCVF analysis reports are compliant with applicable certification requirements (e.g. FSC, PEFC). Depending on availability, the analysis may be based on existing data, or Form international can collect the required data in the field. If High Conservation Value Forests are identified, we can assist with the development of specific measures to maintain these attributes, consistent with the precautionary approach.
